Preliminary Task More Updates
So all of the footage got filmed on friday, without any problems. Only problem really was just getting it all set up but other than that everything went fine. Big thanks to Oliver Clarkson, Johnathon Moore and Racheal Parkes for being in it and more big thanks to Craig Mullen and James Burton for working the camera and lights. Also thanks to Mr Lamb and the music department for letting me use the equipment and the stage to film it. I have given the footage to Mr Earl who will render it for me, so I can edit it all together, hopefully starting that tommorow. I think I managed to capture the essence of Pulled Apart By Horses in my video, especially the randomness of the band and there humour and wit, cause I am quite happy what me and the others came up with to put in the video, which involves one whole shot of us playing for the whole song, then lots of little random bits to edit in between of us playing with us in masks and hats and using props, it's all just weired and a little freaky, especially the masks we wore. Fingers crossed editing will go smoothly and it all should be up on my blog by the end of the week.

Preliminary Task Update
The preliminary task of a one minute music video is falling into place quite nicely, despite me being away for a couple of days. My idea is to film a band playing the song (miming playing the instruments) on a stage and just basically making it look as if they playing at a live show or as if they were at a gig. The song I have chosen is "I Punched a Lion in the Throat" from the band I'am basing my project on, Pulled Apart by Horses. I pretty much have everything set up, the location will be in my schools Hall as it has a stage perfect for this with a drum set already set up on it and it also has stage lights with a lighting board so the lights colour and effects can be changed. The instruments for the band I will borrow from my schools music department, all is needed is two guitars, a bass and microphone and stand. The band is pretty much assembled with filming occuring tommorow and should only taking around an hour to get all the shots needed, as I'am not aiming for anything big or over the top, just a simple video to easy myself into the art of making a music video before I start work on the full length one for my main task and project. Hopefully by doing this one minute video I will know what works and what doesn't work, i.e. in things such as filiming techniques, so I'am fully prepared for when it comes to doing the final piece. Also a big thanks to my old media partner from last year, James Burton, who said I could use his camera and aslo said he would help me film it, as I'am hoping to be the frontman in the video while directing and guiding things at the same time. Hopefully, like I said filming starts and should be done by tommorow, with rendering and editing occuring over the weekend and a couple of days at the start of week, with hopefully it being up on my blog before I break up for summer break, next friday. So fingers crossed it gets done and keep an eye out for updates and the finished product.

Album Covers
Here are a couple of different album covers that I could draw inspiration from when I come to design my own. All these covers are from bands that fit into the hardcore punk and heavey rock/grunge sound Pulled Apart by Horses have.
Dinosaur Pil-Up - Growing Pains
The Chapman Family - Burn Your Town
F**ked Up - Hidden World
F**ked Up - The Chemistry of Common Life
F**ked Up - David Comes to Life
The Bronx - Self Titled

Prelimonary Project - Mini - Music Video
A new prelimonary task has arisen in the form of a small mini - music video. The task is to produce a short 30 - 60 second chunk of a music video, using whatever song I want, mainly sticking to music in the genre of the band I'm following, to show off my capability and what I can do, coincidering I will eventually be making a full length music video. I think I'll just use one of the songs of the band I'am using, Pulled Apart by Horses, and use one of the songs I don't have in mind for the full length music video, possibly the song "I've Got Guest List to Rory O'Harras Suicide" or "The Crapsons". A possible choice for this would be using ones that have already been made into singles and video's such as "High Five, Swan Dive, Nose Dive", "Yeah Buddy" and "I Punched a Lion in the Throat", offering my own ideas for one of the songs. The plan is to pick the song, plan the video and the narrative of the video, then grab all the people I need, mainly the 4 people needed for the band (2 Guitarists, Bassist and Drummer) and any other extras that might be needed and then find a location to film it. The idea is to simply have everybody mime singing and playing the instruments, using an iPod and speakers to have the music playing while we shoot so everything fits in properly and that it should look all fluently, thyen in the editing stages, place the track over the top of it so it all fits together nicely. I should have a camera booked, a plan, actors and a location by the ned of the week, stay tuned for furtehr posts on this project.
