Analysis of Cover Artwork Part 1

These next couple of Blogs are a look at some of the different cover artwork (singles, EP's and LP's), from Pulled Apart By Horses back catalogue.

This is the single cover for "Back to the F**k Yeah" one of the bands first proper major single releases and the first single taken from their debute album. The cover follows a very typical look and style that the band use for everything on their designs, from covers all the way to merchandice. The skull pictured in it, is a sort of imagery that is associated to the band quite a lot, due to how heavily it is featured in the bands designs. The font that is used is also featured a lot on the bands dfifferent designs, here it looks quite similar to that of the font used in old horror movie posters from the 1930-40's, maybe fitting in to the bands sort of hardcore element they have and also very fitting to teh style of humour the band have.

This next cover, is for the single "High Five, Swan Dive, Nose Dive", the second single to be taken off the debute album. This cover is fairly simple, with the defining feature being being the patch on the person backed, pictured in the cover. That patch was given away for free to anyone who pre-ordered the single off the bands website and was designed by the group as well, as most of the artwork and designs are created by the group, mainly by frontman Tom Hudson. As you can see it features the band the font thats used a lot by the band, the sort of bold wavy  letters, and also features what appears to be a skeleton like person/creature playing guitar. Also the bands own skull logo and can be pictured creeping out of eitehr side of the picture.
